Compubeaver (It's a computer! And a beaver!)

What has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 160G hard drive, 1G RAM, buck teeth, fur, and a big fat tail?

Duh, Compubeaver! This taxidermy casemod was created by Kasey McMahon of yourpsychogirlfriend. Compubeaver boasts impressive technical specs, and can chew through logs or logfiles with equal ease.

In this episode of Boing Boing tv, we observe the critter in his native environment: a contemporary office space, with eager information workers -- and one big problem.

Want to build your own? Read this Instructables HOWTO!

Special thanks to Sean Bonner, to everyone at The Groop, and to Adam Koford for the Compubeaver illustrations and "LED log" font. If you dig this video, feel free to Digg it.

Great, so now beavers and other medium-sized furry animals of the wilds are to be hunted down for their pelts once again, this time not for hats, but for hip computer cases? You might want to consider using dogs and cats for your computer cases instead, since they are in no short supply. Or humans for that matter.

I really do not understand what fuels the taste of the boing boing editors. Somedays they seem so hip and enlightened, and the then they throw something like this at us. WTF?

Are you guys just trying to appease the redneck segment of your audience, or do you really think this is a good idea? How can you champion crap like this? What part of killing animals in the most medieval way possible and stuffing their bodies with electronics makes you giddy with joy?

I liked it, for one. But I already had my daily riling-up about something else, so maybe my sense of humor has kicked back in?

@ #3 - Exactly where in the clip did it state that the beaver was killed "in the most medieval way possible"? Did I miss the part where they dispatch the poor creature by means of an iron maiden or judas cradle? Or did you just make that bit up to add spice to your rant?

Jesus, it's 2008, it's about goddam time someone made a CompuBeaver.

Now, it just needs a cam in its eyes so it can watch your hands and support gestures.

I'm a Redneck, what's wrong with Rednecks? I like beavers, what's wrong with beavers? AAAAnnd I cannot live with my computer so I get to enjoy my dam animals and compute at the same time, amazing.

This seems like either a really great surreal SNL sketch, or the pilot for a REALLY BAD sitcom. Like, worse than ALF. But still better than Unhappily Ever After.

First of all, this video isn't meant to offend beavers, it's a joke, plain and simple. The sheer ridiculousness of it all had me laughing out loud.

But the best part was the end. But that's kind of an internet in-joke. Great job, guys!

Uh oh - looks like they don't have the updated version of the pre-packaged Liberal Thoughts Manual.

We need to rush a copy to them ASAP. It would be terrible for them to actually step out and have their own individual thoughts as to what is acceptable humor.
