Point Break and heartbreak
Each weekend at a bar in downtown LA, actors and audience gather to re-create the 1991 action-schlock cult classic Point Break (which starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze). Today on Boing Boing tv, we follow the quest of one lone German/French actor to find fame and greatness through the "Point Break Live" reality-play competition.
Special thanks to Klaus Pierre for enduring such tragedy and humiliation for the sake of Boing Boing tv. You'll always be Johnny Utah to us, old pal.

Wow. Just wow.
I was at that particular performance. The hipster who won the role of Johnny Utah was previously in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
OH come on!
That guy is a comedian. That was obviously on purpose!
I gotta say, that guy can act. He is like a french Baron Cohen.
"Schlock?!" Xeni, I object: *Point Break* was directed by cult filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow, who's highly regarded for her treatments on subcultures and identity. *Point Break* has that as a strong theme (the anti-establishment surfers whose quest for utopia leads to violence vs. the establishment FBI agent tempted by their reckless freedom.) And as a genre effort, *Point* has some of the best action scenes ever made. Lookit, she's got high falutin academic books devoted to her and everything:

This is some anti-Keanu deal. Anything he's in is automatically (and often unfairly, as in this case) mocked as dumb dude kitsch.
I'm so glad Colorado bars have banned acting in them, and within 15' of the bar entrance.
Otherwise we'd be up to our eyebrows in Klaus Pierres.
What a goofey guy. What a laugh. Who needs Keanu
when you have this frenchman?
Why doesn't he just come back next week?
I know this was intended to be funny, but it's almost tragic.
You guys are kinda being jerks. Acting out the role seemed to be big deal for that guy, I felt bad that he didn't get the part.
And Vicky the dude was from Germany.
Was that at Al's Bar? Traction & Hewitt?
"Don't make me call security."
Schlock, schtick, french, german, FUNNY, GET IT, IT'S FUNNY.
i'm really confused now...is the joke on me for thinking that any of you believe pierre is real?
